An elderly woman has been killed in a collision with a lorry in Chiswick.

Emergency services were called to Chiswick High Road, at the junction with Homefield Road, at around 12.45am on Tuesday.

The air ambulance was also scrambled to the scene where a female pedestrian was found to have been in collision with an HGV.

The woman, believed to be aged in her 70s, was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 1.15am. Enquiries to trace next of kin are under way.

The driver involved in the incident stopped at the scene but no one has been arrested.

There were significant delays in the area overnight and motorists were advised to avoid the area and take alternative routes where possible. The roads were reopened on Tuesday morning.

Officers from the Met's Serious Collision Investigation Unit are investigating. Anyone who witnessed this incident should contact police by dialling 101 and quoting reference CAD231/10Feb.
