An Ealing resident has described her living nightmare of eight years following an on-going rubbish bin dispute with Ealing Council.

The 53-year-old of Hanwell claimed the "waste collection is not collected on time or sometimes not at all".

It has been an on-going problem for the sales advisor after her and other flats near York Avenue were not supplied with the correct refuge containers, she said.

This was until the council supplied three metal containers a few months ago before "constantly refusing to supply them with wheel bins due to lack of space".

"I have been living in Hanwell for almost nine years and for the past eight years we have had problems with the rubbish collecting," said the resident.

"First of all the council did not give us any bins for many years, then a few months ago they decided to give us the three big metal containers.

"However, the bin collectors do not always collect the rubbish. Sometimes they don't come for three weeks.

"The situation is only getting worse, they came Tuesday (July 25) but only because my neighbour called the council.

Bin issue still on-going for Ealing resident

"Sometimes they do not come when they should for some reason and they should come once every single week. We are not getting it collected when it should."

Last week she stated she called the council on Wednesday (July 19) and was promised the bins would be collected the next day.

When asked how this affects her and her neighbours every day life she said: "It is a sad situation for me and my neighbours because we feel that no one cares.

"I have called before and nothing happened. Some people who live here have children here.

"There are rats and flies all over the place. It is really affecting our lives."

A council spokesperson said: “The vast majority of weekly collections across the borough take place on time.

"In this case minor adjustments to collection schedules to this area have resulted in a few late collections at the end of July.

"We have worked to rectify this in order to ensure that collections here take place weekly and on time in the future.”
