Mr O’Connor said: “I first became aware of the work of the Trust when I took up my role at the hotel a couple of years back, and have a great admiration for what they do to promote and provide opportunities for inclusive sports participation in our area.

“Knowing that my efforts will help this special cause and will benefit people of all ages locally will really spur me on as I prepare for the big day.

“It’s quite a daunting challenge but there will be lots of long practice runs in the days and weeks ahead.”

The Brentford FC football in the Community Programme is aimed at engaging football clubs with their communities through participation, social inclusion and engagement as well as delivering 32 sports.

Brentford FC CST chief executive, Lee Doyle, said “I am delighted to welcome David to our team of 26 riders taking part across the numerous Ride London events.

“The 100 miles that David has agreed to undertake is a big challenge for a cyclist of any ability.

“The Trust has worked with the Holiday Inn on a number of initiatives over the years and value the relationship we have with them.

"The money raised through fund-raising events such as Ride London make such a difference to the work that we do in the community both within sporting activities, but also on an educational or mentoring basis.”
