An Ealing man who shared terrorist material on Facebook has been jailed.

Ashavin Mansuklal Gohill, 37, of Greenford Avenue, had pleaded guilty to two counts of disseminating terrorist publications.

He was convicted after posting extracts of speeches by extremists on his Facebook page, on December 27, 2015, and February 18 the following year.

On Friday (May 19) he was sentenced at the Old Bailey to 18 months behind bars.

Commander Dean Haydon, from the Metropolitan police's Counter Terrorism Command, said:"My officers take these offences very seriously and will pursue anyone involved in the promotion of terrorism.

"The speeches that Gohill shared on social media are terrorist propaganda, they are designed to encourage the support of terrorism, and they have increased the risk of attack to people across the world."
