Ealing Council has warned residents that collection days for both recycling and rubbish are set to change over the Christmas period.

Refuse and recycling collections across the borough will change from December 25 and will return to normal on Monday January 15.

A council spokesman said rubbish and recycling should be left at the front of the property, not on the pavement, by 7am on the revised collection day.

As well as a revised timetable, the re-use and recycling centres in Stirling Road, Acton , and Greenford Road, Greenford , will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.

Councillor Bassam Mahfouz, cabinet member for transport, environment and leisure, urged residents to check the revised dates.

He said: “Residents' usual collections will change over the Christmas and New Year period, so please take a moment to check the revised dates to ensure your household waste is collected.

“You can't recycle too much and any extra recycling that doesn't fit in your bin can be placed next to it in clear sacks or carrier bags."

He added: “Ealing has a fantastic record of recycling, we are one of the most improved boroughs in the entire country and the second-best performing borough in London.

“I am grateful to the continued work of residents in their efforts to help us achieve so much.”
