An Ealing brothel near a nursery was closed down after residents reported their suspicions about the flat to the Metropolitan Police .

The borough's Broadway Safer Neighbourhoods Team shut down the property in Hilton House, Amherst Road and seized a number of phones and cash.

A male and two females were found at the address together in October, where the male - Marian Tatarascu - was arrested for managing the brothel.

After an investigation into the discovery, Tatarascu, of no fixed abode, was charged with managing a brothel and remanded in custody until he appeared at Isleworth Crown Court on December 21 2016.

The 33-year-old pleaded guilty to the offence and received a ten week prison sentence, a £115 fine and was given a confiscation notice for the money that was seized by officers at the venue.

PC Boast from Ealing Broadway Safer Neighbourhoods Team said: "I would like to thank local residents for coming forward with information and for their support while they dealt with the brothel."
