A new school in Hayes is due to be officially opened on Thursday (April 20) – and you might just recognise the guests of honour.

The Global Academy is a new state school which aims to prepare students for careers in broadcast and digital media with vocational and academic training.

Opening as a University Technical College, (UTC) the college is run by Global, which owns radio stations including Capital FM, Radio X and LBC.

The school has been open to students since September but will be officially opened by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry.

William, Kate and Harry will be making an appearance at the school and will be visiting classrooms as pupils train towards jobs in the media.

The event is in support of Heads Together, an initiative aimed at tackling the stigma, raising awareness and providing help for people with mental health problems.

Heads Together is spearheaded by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry and is the charity of the year for the London Marathon 2017.

Global Academy will cater for 800 students and sits on the site of the Old Vinyl Factory in Record Walk, Hayes.
