A dog re-homing centre have put out a plea to prospective visitors reminding them that their facility is open despite facing access problems.

Dogs Trust Harefield would like to reassure visitors that despite repair work being carried out on a nearby damaged railway bridge , the re-homing centre remains open as usual.

The works, which are taking place following a car collision on Harvil Road, mean there will be limited access to the entrance to the re-homing centre for the next three weeks.

Network Rail have been carrying out structural engineering works on the bridge, since a car crash which saw a man and a woman hospitalised .

The woman was airlifted to hospital by London's Air Ambulance (LASS) after she had to be cut free from the vehicle in Harvil Road by London Fire Brigade (LFB) on Thursday (February 11).

Network Rail tweeted a customer to announce work may be completed by Friday, February 26.

A spokesperson for the rail company said: "Network Rail has had to rebuild the parapet wall and the buttress following a car causing structural damage to the Harvil Road railway bridge.

"The work will be finished over the weekend and is due to be handed back on Monday February 22."

'Business as usual'

There will be access to the site for vehicles travelling south along Harvil Road from Harefield by the following three roads:

  • New Years Green Lane via Breakspear Road South from Ickenham and Ruislip
  • Church Hill/Harvil Road from the Centre of Harefield
  • Moorhall Road from Denham Green

Richard Moore, Dogs Trust Harefield Re-homing Centre Manager, said: "Whilst there is likely to be restricted access to the re-homing centre for the next three weeks, I would like to reassure everyone that our opening hours are not affected and it’s still very much business as usual for our staff as we continue to look after the dogs in our care.

"We currently have a whole host of adorable dogs all awaiting loving new homes.

"If you are interested in paying us a visit, we would love to see you but advise that you plan ahead to make sure your journey is as smooth as possible."
