Commuters face severe delays on the District Line for the second morning in a row due to a signal failure on the line.

Delays are affecting the line between Wimbledon and Edgware Road on Tuesday (December 19) because of a signal failure at Becontree.

Passengers are being advised to seek an alternative route where possible, with London Underground Tickets being accepted on local buses and South Western Railway.

Posting to Twitter on Tuesday morning, the District Line said: "Severe delays between Wimbledon and Edgware Road due to signal failure at Becontree.

"Minor delays between Upminster and Barking.

"Please use an alternative route where possible."

Those travelling on the District Line on Monday morning (December 18) experienced severe delays due to a signal failure at East Putney.

Passengers should check their route before travelling by heading to Transport for London's website .
