An outraged mother has set up a fundraising page for the 101-year-old Shepherd’s Bush woman who was targeted by thieves.

Allison Sargent was shocked when she read how the conmen had tricked their way into the home of the victim before rummaging through her property and making off with cash.

So she set up a gofundme page on Wednesday (October 13) in the hope of raising £1,000 for the victim.

Miss Sargent, from West Drayton , said: “I wanted to do something nice for this lady as she’s 101 and I wanted to restore her faith in the human population.

“She’s been through two world wars and a lot more than we will probably go through and it would be nice to do something nice for her.”

The three thieves struck in Wulfstan Street on September 30 at around 4.45pm, claiming to be from the waterboard. They flashed bogus cards, which had a water symbol on, to enter her property.

Miss Sargent continued: “I was disgusted when I read the story. How could anyone do something like that? Especially to someone of that age.

“If my kids had done something like that I would hand them into the police myself.

“I’m hoping to raise £1,000, that’s my goal, but I don’t know whether I will get that.”

The thieves are all white and were wearing navy blue clothing. The first male was tall, slim with short cropped hair, while the other two were smaller and stockier than the first male.

They searched her property before leaving with cash. Thankfully, she was covered by insurance.

Police advise residents to carefully check ID and to refuse entry to people if they are unsure they are who they say they are.

If suspicious, look up their company’s number through Yellow Pages - do not phone a number they provide you as it may be part of the deception. Genuine staff will accept your call and be used to residents carrying out this procedure.

If issues continue dial 999 for police to attend and check.

Anyone with information on the burglary can call 101.
