Around 80 people gathered before a meeting where the closure of the children’s ward at Ealing Hospital is expected to be confirmed.

The Ealing Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) gathered on May 18 and are expected to confirm the closure of the 16-bed Charlie Chaplin ward at the hospital.

However, demonstrators gathered outside the venue of the meeting at Greenford Hall, Ruislip Road, Greenford holding placards against the changes.

Around 80 people were protesting outside the Ealing CCG meeting

Oliver New from Ealing Save Our NHS, which organised the protest , said: “These disgusting cuts have no public support and will hit the most vulnerable in our community. It’s not rocket science, children need A&E services. Excluding them will also undermine the whole A&E and the Hospital.”

The crowd was addressed by Greenford councillor Aysha Raza and newly re-elected GLA member Onkar Sahota as well as health campaigners.

Children will be endangered by the proposals, according to demonstrators
