Major disruption is expected in April when a carriageway of the Hammersmith Flyover closes for three weekends.

The closures of the westbound carriageway will take place between April 10-13, 17-20 and 24-27, and is part of Transport for London’s (TfL) repair work to the bridge.

Disruption is expected, especially during the first closure which clashes with the Varsity Boat Race on Saturday April 11. Traffic will be diverted through the roads beneath the flyover and the A40 Western Avenue, with diversions clearly signed.

The road will close at 10.30pm on Fridays and reopen on Mondays at 5am.

TfL say the repairs have been carefully designed to be carried out in the shortest timeframe possible in a bid to keep road disruption down to a minimum.

Since October 2013, it has been working to complete the final phase of work, strengthening 11 of the flyover’s 16 spans.

Work planned for April will see final repairs to the concrete deck, waterproofing and resurfacing.
