The death of a man who was found in the Frays River near Uxbridge 's Cowley Road is not believed to be suspicious, the Metropolitan Police has revealed.

Police were called to the busy road just outside Whitehall School at 7.53am on Tuesday morning (January 3) after reports of a body in a river nearby.

When they arrived on the scene officers recovered a body.

The man's death is currently being treated as unexplained

The Met Police said enquiries are ongoing to establish the man's identity and his family have not been informed of the death.

The footpath running between the river and Cowley Road was closed off on Tuesday as a police cordon was put in place.

A statement from the Met Police said: “Police were called to Cowley Road in Uxbridge at 7.53am on Tuesday January 3 to reports of a body in the river.

“Officers attended and recovered the body of a man.

“The death is being treated as unexplained and at this early stage is not believed to be suspicious.”

Police were called to the river shortly before 8am

No arrests have been made and police said enquiries continue.

A post-mortem examination to be arranged in the near future.
