Police investigating the murder of Dean Mayley in Greenford have arrested a further two people.

A 17-year-old male youth and a 18-year-old man handed themselves into a north London police station on Monday (February 17) and were arrested on suspicion of murder and are currently in custody.

Dean, 24, from Northolt, was attacked in Ruislip Road, Greenford, at about 5.20pm on Friday February 7 and died at St Mary's Hospital later that evening from a single stab wound to the chest. He had suffered from a neuro-developmental disorder called microcephaly which meant he had the mental age of a nine year old. His family said that he will have been vulnerable and easily led.

The latest arrests came on the same day that two 17-year-old boys had been due to appear at Willesden Youth Court accused of Dean's murder, conspiracy to rob and possession of an offensive weapon.

On Friday, a week after Dean's death, around 60 people held a minute's silence at the spot in Ruislip Road where he was fatally attacked. Supporters also handed out leaflets appealing for people to contact the police with any information about Dean's killers.

One of the women who observed the silence, said: "There was a brilliant turn-out. It’s dreadful what happened but absolutely amazing to see the community come together like that. Dean's sister Emma was there and we just wanted to support her.”
