A deadly weapon has been taken off the streets in Hounslow during a routine traffic stop by officers.

Police on one of the borough’s response teams were carrying out a routine traffic stop on Kingsley Road, Hounslow, on Thursday (February 18) morning when the large deadly butcher knife was uncovered.

Hounslow police said they have arrested a man for being in possession of a meat cleaver and he was taken to a west London police station.

The arrest comes as police continue to clampdown on knife crime in the borough.

The police investigation into the matter is ongoing.

Last week, police on patrol in Kingston made the grim discovery of a souvenir pencil from Kew Gardens turned into a deadly weapon.
