A female police officer on patrol on the High Street in Hounslow single-handedly arrested a boy carrying two knives.

PC Grayson of the Hounslow town centre team who was alone at the time is extremely ‘worried’ about young people and knife crime, after a 17-year-old boy was caught with dangerous weapons in the middle of the day.

PC Grayson said: “I felt extremely worried that somebody of that young age was carrying such a dangerous weapon on Hounslow High Street at 1pm in the afternoon.

“There were two weapons a large knife and a locking knife.”

One of the knives was just under 30cm long and the sharp blade was about half the length at around 15cm.

A Hounslow Police spokesman added: “The officer was on her own when she detained the male. Great work by PC Grayson.”

A boy aged 17 has been charged with two offences; possession of an offensive weapon and being in possession of a bladed article.

Police in Hounslow have vowed to increase efforts to hunt down people carrying weapons as they announced a two -week knife amnesty last week.

Meanwhile the recent arrest shows Hounslow's borough commander chief superintendent Raj Kohli's pledge to step up efforts to tackle knife crime are working.
