Prominent members of the community are set to go behind bars at Pinner Police station on Friday March 11 in an effort to raise money for a local charity.

St Luke’s Hospice detainees will be hand cuffed, dressed in prison overalls and will undergo an intimidating and thorough interrogation by local police officers before being escorted to a prison cell and won't be let out until they raise their £1000 bail fee.

Councillor Joel Davidson, who is due to be locked up, said, "I will be contacting as many friends and family members as I can to raise my bail fee, I hope that most of them will want me to get out of jail!

"I know from my own family experience that hospices such as St Luke's do a fantastic job in caring for elderly and vulnerable people across Brent and Harrow."

The charity, based in Harrow , looks after people in the local community with incurable illnesses.

Last Year's Jail and Bail event, held on March 27, raised a total of £14,000 for the charity , with local MP Bob Blackman and local councillors taking part.

The Director of Buckingham Futures, Ketan Dattani, who will also be locked up for the charity, said: "I decided to go behind bars for St Luke’s because I care deeply about giving the best possible care to people whose illnesses are no longer curable and enabling them to achieve the best possible quality of life in their final days.

"I am not really looking forward to the confinement but it should be an interesting experience and the reason why I am choosing to do it will make the experience considerably more bearable."

Les Conway of Pinner & Northwood Business Club, Liberal Democrat candidate, Anton Georgiou, Chunilal Hirani of Maa Krupa Foundation, GLA Member of Brent and Harrow, Navin Shah and Reverand Steve Morris of St Cuthbert’s Church will also be taking part in the event.
