Time to claim a £1million-winning National Lottery ticket purchased in Hammersmith and Fulham has run out.

Operators Camelot say the 180-day deadline to claim the big-money prize passed at midnight on Thursday (February 23).

The prize, plus the interest it gathered, will now be spent on National Lottery-funded projects across the UK.

Camelot had visited London Corinthian Sailing Club, previously funded by the National Lottery, as it stepped up its search to find the winning ticket .

Andy Carter, Senior Winners’ Advisor at The National Lottery said: “Unfortunately, I can confirm that the ticket-holder did not come forward within the deadline to claim their prize and has now sadly missed out on this substantial amount of money.

"To avoid this unfortunate situation happening again, I would urge all National Lottery players to check their tickets on a regular basis.

“We tried very hard to find the ticket-holder and it’s a real shame that they have missed out, but there is still one winner – the nation.

"This money, and all the interest earned over the 180 days, will now go to benefit projects all over the UK funded by The National Lottery.”

The ticket needs to be claimed by February 23

The Lotto Medal Draw was a one-off event to celebrate the 27 Gold medals won at the Rio 2016 Olympics.

The ticket was sold in the borough last year before the Lotto Medal Draw on August 27.

It created 26 millionaires, with all tickets with the exception of the one bought in Hammersmith and Fulham claimed.

The sailing club, in Hammersmith, received more than £250,000 lottery funding to allow for redevelopment of sports facilities and the building of a new single story pavilion at Hurlingham Park, and nearly £10,000 for new dinghies to improve training and increase opportunities.

The unclaimed ticket had a Lotto Millionaire Raffle code, RUBY 7100 1234.

Since its launch in 1994, £36 billion has been raised by National Lottery players, which has been awarded to projects across the arts, sports, heritage, health, education, environment, charity and voluntary sectors.
