A man has been found dead in scrub land behind a fitness centre in Greenford.

Police were called to a report of an unconscious man, behind the David Lloyd Fitness Centre, in Greenford Road, on Monday (February 2) at around 10am.

Officers attended the scene, along with London Ambulance Service, but the 38-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Neighbours said the man was found on the Wood End Estate alleyway, between Bedser Drive and the David Lloyd Centre, and that police were still on the scene during the late afternoon.

Dave Dwyer, chairman of nearby Wood End Residents Association, said: “A lot of people are shocked. It’s another incident that’s not very pleasant for the local community.

“I was on the bus yesterday with a couple of local people and they are all totally in shock.

“The incident came in the same week as the fire in Northolt too, all happening in and around the estate [Wood End Estate].

“People are upset and concerned.”

Next of kin have now been informed. A post-mortem will be arranged in due course and the death is being treated as non-suspicious.
