A coffeehouse is providing more than food and drink at its branch in Hammersmith .

The Costa Coffee store in the Kings Mall, King Street, is teaming up with an educational body to offer evening classes in GCSE English .

It is aimed at people who do not speak English as their first language, and will begin in February.

The classes are the result of a collaboration between Costa and PopUp College, led by Jason Elsom, and is designed to give adults the chance to learn new skills in a welcoming and social environment.

One hour lessons will be held each Wednesday between 7pm and 8pm, with the course ending in December this year.

Sandy Gourlay, charity and community manager at Costa Coffee, said: “We’re delighted to support Jason and PopUp College with his exciting new initiative to create accessible courses to engage adults in education and teach people new skills.”

Other Costa stores in the capital will teach A level maths and GCSE science.
