There were tears of joy as a surprise delivery was made to one woman in Hounslow .
It was a Christmas miracle for a shocked Lena Smith from Hounslow, who thanks to her daughter-in-law Mia and Tesco , was reunited with her sister after 10 years apart.
Bringing an extra helping of festive cheer, the long lost siblings came face to face with each other after the supermarket chain made a surprise home delivery to Lena outside her house.
After waiting for what she believed was a special food delivery it was smiles all around when the van rolled away to reveal sister Barbara who had flown in from Canada was stood across the road.
After the happy reunion, Jamaican-born Ms Smith, said: “I was grateful enough to be receiving a food hamper, but words can’t describe how amazing it feels to be reunited with my sister.
"Christmas is all about family and being able to celebrate it this year with Barbara is the best gift I could have asked for.”
Lena was nominated by Mia who wanted to arrange for the sisters to finally see each other again this Christmas, and with the help of Tesco Osterley Extra store, that became a reality.
Three other Tesco customers were also reunited with long lost loved ones thanks to the supermarkets ''Unexpected Guest' initiative which saw customers nominate friends and family who had been separated for years from loved ones.
Other touching reunions took pace in Scotland, South Shields and Hull.
Robert Knight, store manager at Tesco Osterley Extra said: “Christmas is a time for friends and family to come together.
"That’s why we’re delighted to have gone the extra mile for one of our local customers this Christmas by reuniting Lena with her sister, Barbara.”
