Chiswick High Road has enough restaurants, cafes, pubs and sandwich shops that you could never get bored, but what are your chances of getting ill?

getwestlondon looked into the food hygiene ratings of every eatery on the road and it's mostly good news bar a few nasty surprises.

The inspections are carried out by food safety experts from the London Borough of Hounslow.

All ratings have been taken from the Food Standards Agency website and were accurate at the time of writing (May 25, 2017).

West Kebab in Chiswick High Road was rated just one star for hygiene

West Kebab is the worst place to eat if you're particular about hygiene. The store was inspected on January 3 this year and scored just one star for hygiene. One star means "major improvement necessary".

Although its cleanliness and hygienic food handling was fine, the kebab shop suffered from having poor management of food safety.

The takeaway is, however, rated four out of five on TripAdvisor.

The most recent review, in March 2017, said: "This was a very fast visit at this particular place cause I was starving so badly! The prices and the food quality are good enough. The quality of the meat was also nice."

Staff at the takeaway were unavailable for comment.

    FSA ratings

Any restaurant that receives either a zero or one rating from the FSA is still permitted to trade so long as the officer deems the food is safe to eat.

The local authority food safety officer will offer advice and guidance in how to improve their rating and give a timescale.

If it is not met then further implications will be made on the business.

If an officer finds an imminent health risk, they must take action to protect consumers which could mean prohibiting part of an operation or closing the business down.
