A child was taken to hospital after being hit by a bus in Harrow town centre during early rush hour.

London's Air Ambulance (LAA), London Ambulance Service (LAS), London Fire Brigade (LFB) and the Metropolitan Police all attended the scene on Station Road, Harrow on Tuesday (March 8) morning.

The boy, whose age is unknown, was spotted lying on the ground by members of the public, who tweeted about the accident before emergency services got to the scene.

An LAA spokesperson said: "Our advanced trauma team was dispatched via aircraft by the London Ambulance Service at 8.45am today to a road traffic collision involving a pedestrian and a bus in Harrow.

"Following treatment, the patient was then taken by road, with the London Ambulance Service, to St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington escorted by the London’s Air Ambulance doctor."

Metropolitan Police confirmed they were called to the incident at 8:39am, to reports of a collision involving a bus and a child.

A spokesperson said: "Officers, the LAS and the Air Ambulance unit attended.

"The child was taken to a west London hospital. We await an update on his condition.

"The bus stopped at the scene and enquires continue."

London Fire Brigade sent two fire engines and a fire rescue unit to the scene, and were present from 8.30am until 8.55am.
