CCTV footage has been released of a man police would like to talk to in connection with a serious assault in Kilburn .

A 72-year-old man was left with head injuries after he was attacked with a metal device in the early hours of Saturday September 24 on Canterbury Road.

At 3.40am the victim was hit across the face and head with a metal litter picker, causing the pensioner to fall to the ground.

Following the incident, the victim was taken to a north London hospital with head injuries, but has since been discharged.

The footage, released by the Met Police shows the suspect as he leaves the scene, around 10 minutes after the incident took place.

He is described as a black male of stocky build. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a checked shirt, blue jeans and dark trainers.

"This was a horrendous and sustained attack on an elderly man" says Detective Inspector Linda Bradley, from Brent CID.

"We are keen to trace the man in the CCTV footage so we can speak to them about the incident."

"We would also urge anyone who witnessed the incident to contact us."

No arrests have been made and enquiries into the incident continue.

Police are urging anyone with information should call them on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
