A family is warning other pet owners to beware of cruelty against cats after her beloved feline was shot in the face by an air gun in Hounslow .

Beautiful black rescue cat Bilbo was extremely lucky not to lose an eye, said distraught mum Camilla Chandler of Argyle Aveneue.

This is one of two animal incidents reported to police after another male cat Kino from Feltham was taken to the vets where they discovered two pellets lodged in his body.

Ms Chandler, aged 45, and her partner along with their four children have been left deeply upset after Bilbo was shot during the early afternoon on October 11.

The three-year-old was taken to the vets where the pellet was removed.

The vet bill cost the family £680 and the poorly feline has been fitted with a cone on his head as well as given antibiotics.

The incident has left him very miserable as he tries to recover from the injuries caused by the horrific incident.

Ms Chandler, who is urging local pet owners to keep a close eye on their furry friends, said: "I have informed the police, who have advised me that if anyone is caught for this they could face charges of criminal damage and/or animal cruelty.

"I would like this publicised, so that other local people can watch out for their pets.

"If they see or hear anything suspicious report it to the police. We don't want this to happen to us, or anyone else, again."
