Cashless parking has been rolled out for the first time at Chiswick and Isleworth train stations.

Commuters no longer have to worry about carrying cash as they race to park, pay and catch their train after South West Trains introduced the pay by phone alternative to the remaining 26 car parks across its network.

The move means it now offers passengers at 118 stations the service which is provided by RingGo.

The car parking charges across the train operators network have also been frozen since January.

James Vickers, South West Trains commercial and business development director, said: “Offering cashless parking at all of our car parks makes it even easier and more convenient for our passengers to travel with South West Trains.

“We’re pleased this improvement means passengers parking at well over 100 stations now have the option of paying for their parking simply by using their phone and no longer need to remember to bring cash.

“We know how important it is for passengers to enjoy a simple and convenient journey and this improvement will help thousands of our passengers every day.”

South West Trains has also announced plans to add 1,400 parking spaces at stations throughout the year.

A recent survey reported South West Trains passengers were happier following multi-million pound improvements.

Harry Clarke, RingGo’s commercial director, added: “Rail commuters want services to run like clockwork, so the consistency and quality of the solution is obviously important.

“We offer a range of ticket options, including weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual. Shorter parking sessions can obviously be booked through the RingGo app or by calling.”
