On Monday (August 22) police were called at 1.40am to Brabazon Road in Heston, outside Dhillons Supermarket and Off Licence, where an ATM was blown up .

An investigation is underway after the suspects had fled the scene shortly after officers arrived, but it is not yet clear if any money was taken.

A motorist who was passing by at around 6.15am told getwestlondon : "I drove past Brabazon Road shops where the Post Office and Dhillons Newsagents is about 6.15am today and found a huge police cordon in place - all parade of shops sealed off with police tape and police presence.

"Looked like phone box was smashed up."

No arrests have been made.

Police revealed in a story on Sunday (August 21) how scammers are using iPods to steal customers' bank details , after a cash machine in Harrow was targeted.

The devices are hidden in a cover and attached to the top of cash points, where they record as customers enter their PIN numbers.

A false card slot is also attached, retaining the customer’s credit or debit card, which is then used by the thieves to withdraw cash using the PIN number.
