Hayes town centre was awash with the carnival spirit on Saturday (July 11) as Hayes Carnival lit up the streets.
Beginning at 12.30pm at Pump Lane and ending at 1.30pm at Barra Hall Park, the parade procession celebrated the vibrant history of Hayes and its diverse community through the decades.
Various sights, sounds and tastes of vibrant cultures united to create a carnival to remember.
Events in Barra Hall Park were held throughout the day, with a main stage showcasing the parade prize-giving ceremony.
The stage also played host to X Factor contestant Jack Walton, the winner of Hillingdon’s Hidden Talent competition Ethan Beer, '50s/'60s soul singing trio The Estrellas and the Schools Community Choir.
Carnival-goers also had the opportunity to see and sample a range of activities and performances in the park, including Gozart and his giant puppet, the Save the Lyma Birds puppet act, the Bubble Man show, stilt walkers, a story camp, floral demonstrations, sports zone, community stalls and food court.
As part of the Hayes Town Centre improvements, the council also invited residents at the carnival to contribute to a Sounds of Hayes playlist.
Cllr Douglas Mills, cabinet member for community, commerce and regeneration, said: “Last year’s carnival was a great success, with thousands of people flocking to Barra Hall Park to enjoy the free entertainment and activities on offer and lining the streets to watch the spectacular parade.
“This event continues to celebrate the diverse cultures and communities of Hayes.”
