A carer has denied attacking a 90-year-old grandmother with a kitchen knife in her own home .

Abosede Adeyinka, 52, appeared before the Old Bailey on Tuesday May 30 accused attempted murder.

The defendant also faced an alternative charge of wounding with intent and possessing a kitchen knife at the scene of the alleged attack in Lilac Place, Yiewsley on April 27.

Adeyinka, of Hayes, spoke only to confirm her name and enter not guilty pleas to all the charges.

The mother-of-three will reappear for a six-day trial on October 23.

Police had been called to the home on the evening of April 27 following reports of an elderly woman being assaulted.

The victim had suffered a stab wound to the neck and serious head injuries "consistent with blunt force trauma", police had said.

The victim spent a month in hospital before being discharged.
