Hammersmith and Fulham has one of the highest rates of admissions to care homes for under 65s in England, while Ealing has one of the lowest.

According to data from NHS choices, there were 31.3 admissions in Hammersmith and Fulham per 100,000 adults aged 18 to 64 in 2013/14 - the sixth highest rate in the country.

Westminster was also in the highest 20% of admissions for younger adults, with a rate of 25.4, but Ealing only had 7.6 admissions per 100,000 18 to 64s.

For admissions for older adults, west London has some of the lowest rates in England, with 199.4 admissions per 100,000 over 65s in Kensington and Chelsea, and similarly low rates in Hillingdon, at 266.3; Ealing at 296.4; and Harrow, at 301.2.

This measure is taken from the Adult Social Care Outcomes Framework (ASCOF) 2013/14, published by the Health and Social Care Information Centre, and the data shows the number of adults aged 18 to 64 as well as adults 65 and over who were admitted to residential and nursing care homes, compared to the population in this age group. Neither measure includes people who are funding their own stay in a care home.
