The driver behind the wheel of the bus which rammed into a bridge in Isleworth will no longer be operating rail replacement routes.

South West Trains has asked that the driver, from third party contractor Buses Excetera, be removed from running any of its services.

The incident, which injured three people, saw the roof of the bus ripped off after the driver crashed into the St John's rail bridge in Isleworth on Sunday (October 2) afternoon.

Police and paramedics attended the scene and road closures and diversions were in place for several hours while the accident was dealt with.

The same thing happened to another bus driver at the same bridge last year when a privately hired 'rugby special' bus' roof was ripped off.

A spokesman for South West Trains said: "The bus involved in this incident was on contract from a third party operator.

“We were concerned to hear about the incident and are working with the company and the police to establish what happened.

"We have asked Buses Excetera to remove the driver from any of our future services."
