The owner of an Eastcote ice cream and dessert shop has added a sprinkle of humour after burglars raided the tills over night on Thursday (January 19).

Thieves forced their way in through the front door of Dessertful in Field End Road and searched the shop before taking the cash from the tills.

But the owner of the dessert shop decided to ice over the gloom and offer the burglars free dessert if they come back during opening hours.

The sign was posted in the shop window on Saturday (January 21) and warned that cash is now removed from the tills.

Dessertful's owner, Irfan Bachoo, told getwestlondon : “I came into the store on Friday morning at 11.30am and the front door was open.

“They forced it open and got inside sometime after midnight.

“They did a search of the back, some of the cupboards were open.

“I called the police and I didn't stay inside in case someone was inside.”

Unfortunately, there is no CCTV at the store and forensic police said they were unable to get any useful evidence because the offenders wore gloves.

The sign put up in the shop's window said: “To the folks who broke in on Thursday and emptied the till, henceforth the till will be emptied every night so don't waste your time and energy to break in.

“You can keep the cash as charity from Dessertful.

“If you were after ice cream, then come in during our opening hours and we shall feed you with free ice cream.”

The sign ends with a defiant smiley face from the management.

Mr Bachoo, 31, said the ordeal has left him frightened to open up shop in the morning, but he wanted to give a warning to potential thieves.

He said: “It was a bit frightening and scary.

“It creates a kind of negativity in your head. When I open the store in the morning I'm terrified.”

But since posting the picture of their sign on Facebook on Saturday, Dessertful have been touched by support from customers and members of the public.

The shop's management thanked the public for their “kind words and support”.
