Crime has dropped significantly in the west part of the borough of Hounslow over a 12 month period, according to the latest police figures.

Overall, there were 18 burglaries reported in Bedfont , Feltham and Hanworth between October 2014 and September 2015, compared to 145 reports of the crime in the rest of the borough.

A breakdown revealed Bedfont has seen a 44% reduction during the same time period, with Feltham experiencing a fall over the past three months.

Meanwhile, drug offences were reported to have fallen in the Hanworth Park area, however crime hotspots areas such as Feltham Pond remain a problem.

The news was welcomed by leader of Feltham and Heston Conservatives, Cllr Paul Jabbal, who said: “I congratulate local police on the brilliant work they have done this past year to protect local residents.

“Any crime affects the victim but also the local community, and that’s why I strongly support the need for 'high visibility mobile patrols' to keep residents safe.

“I know from my long term experience as a councillor the pond area in Feltham was a continuing problem for drugs and anti-social behaviour.

“Nevertheless, regular police patrols, cautions and warnings are dealing with the issue with two people currently on bail and soon to be charged with intent to supply cannabis.”

The Chancellor’s recent Autumn Statement revealed police budgets would be protected with £900m by 2019-20 going towards “beefing up” police presence and ensuring neighbourhood policing is secure in communities.
