Passengers on domestic flight BA1340 to Leeds Bradford Airport were flown back to the west London airport after reports of a 'technical issue' on Sunday (June 12) morning.
A request was made for a priority landing at Heathrow for the flight operated by an Airbus A319 which has a maximum capacity of 143 seats.
A ‘squawk 7700’ was originally sent out by the pilots for emergency landing according to @FlightEmergency, and the aircraft made a safe landing on runway 27L around 9am.
The flight which was scheduled to depart at 7.55am was already delayed by 27 minutes in London.
It is believed the flight has been cancelled and passengers are asked to contact BA for further information.
A spokesperson for BA said: "The aircraft landed safely at Heathrow after the pilot requested a priority landing for a minor technical issue."
