A 43-year-old who was struck in the head with a brick in vicious robbery in Northolt was looked after by brave cleaning staff at a nearby gym.

On Sunday July 10 around midnight, the man, who had just left the gym and was on his way home, was approached by two suspects in Rowdell Road who demanded money.

Metropolitan Police said he was attacked with a brick, causing a deep cut to his cheek and eyebrow along with bruising and swelling to his face.

The victim fled to PureGym, where a quick thinking night-time cleaner rushed him inside, administered first aid and called the police .

The manager of the gym, Hollie Miles, was told of the incident by staff members after it happened.

Speaking to getwestlondon, she said: “I'm really proud of what she did.

“It was great she was able to get the police involved. She kept it really professional.

“She dealt with it really well.”

The cleaner went to the door of the gym where she found the victim, and saw two men run away from the scene.

According to Ms Miles the man was in shock and there was a wound on the side of the head where he had been hit with the brick.

She said: “He was quite panicked and in a state of shock.

“It must have been quite an aggressive knock.

“[The cleaner] sat him down and called the police. She gave him first aid and reassured him.”

A family member of the victim was then called and he was taken to hospital.

Ms Miles, who has been manager of PureGym Northolt since January, said she had not seen anything like this before.

The Metropolitan Police released CCTV images of two men they wish to speak with following the robbery.

Police said both suspects ran off with the victim's bag which contained his mobile phone, cash, bank card and driving licence.

The victim, who has since been discharged, attended hospital a short while where he was treated for a deep cut to his cheek and eyebrow along with bruising and swelling to his face.

Officers have described the first suspect as a black, dark-skinned male with short brown hair, wearing a grey hooded top and blue jeans.

Police described the second suspect as a white male, with short brown hair and was wearing a grey hooded top and blue jeans, along with a silver chain.

DC Andrew Cresswell from Ealing CID, said: "This was a nasty attack on a man leaving the gym on his way home.

"It is only by sheer chance that he did not sustain any lasting injuries from a brutal attack to the head.
