A man from Brentford pedalled 75 miles as part of gruelling cycle marathon and helped raise more than £20,000 for charity.

Jason Wade, 43, was joined by 14 other Selco Builders Warehouse managers from branches across London to drum up funds for the company's nominated charity, Macmillan Cancer Support.

The mixed group of beginners and seasoned veterans had completed an intense training programme in the lead-up to the bike ride in the New Forest.

Mr Wade, manager at Selco’s Redhill branch, said: “The bike ride was very demanding, both physically and mentally.

"Raising money for Selco’s designated charity, Macmillan, makes all the sweat and tears worth it.

“I had next to no experience in long distance cycling, apart from small bits of training before the event.

"It was certainly a relief to cross the finish line - it makes it all worthwhile when we are raising money for such a worthy cause.”

Since 2012, Selco has raised £200,000 for Macmillan through golf days, sponsored runs and charity matches and are within reach of the £300,000 target by the end of 2016.
