Plans to rejuvenate the Citroen garage site in Brentford with hundreds of new homes and a public square have been announced

The proposed development features 400 new homes including much needed family housing, and up to 40% of affordable homes made up of a mix of studio flats and one to three bedroom apartments.

At the heart of the plans are an urban plaza, with the potential to host a local market, places to relax as well as retail and commercial space.

The site will also include a nursery, gym and places to dine.

It follows a family fun day held in July where residents were invited to help shape up plans for the Urban Plaza.

The proposals also include new cycling and walking links, cycle storage facilities and limited car parking spaces.

Deveopers L&Q are now giving residents a chance to learn more about the project and seek their views on the proposals through two public exhibitions next week.

Drop in information sessions will be held at Brentford Fountain Leisure Centre on:

  • Tuesday September 5 from 11am to 7pm
  • Thursday September 7 from 4pm to 7pm

Residents provide feedback on urban plaza plans earlier this summer

Those who cannot attend the sessions next week, an online platform - Commonplace – has been set up where people can find out more about the plans for the site and share their comments on the proposals.

The developer said feedback has confirmed interest in bringing more affordable housing to the area.

“We received some really useful and valuable feedback from local residents which we’re using to ensure our designs for the development best meet local needs," Ed Tibbetts, Senior Design and Planning Manager from L&Q said.

"As well as providing a mix of studio 1, 2 and 3 bed homes, our vision is for more affordable housing in Brentford and a new vibrant urban plaza, for both residents and the local community to enjoy.

"We look forward to meeting Brentford residents in September and updating them on our plans.”

Cycling and walking links included in plans for new Brentford development

A planning application for the development will be submitted to Hounslow Council in the autumn.

L&Q is also building new homes with the construction of Wheatstone House in Brentford under way.

It is part of The Gateway development and once completed will provide 95 new homes and retail space which are due to go on sale next year.

Proposed images of the Citroen garage site are yet to be revealed.
