One of west London's biggest free festivals returns on Sunday (September 4) with what promises to be its best line-up yet.

More than 10,000 revellers are expected to pour into Blondin Park, in Northfields, for the Brentford Festival, which is now in its 11th year.

The main stage will feature an eclectic line-up, from morris dancing to a rock group called Feral Ghost.

Feral Ghost

There will be nearly 100 stalls selling everything from jewellery to cakes and providing information on all manner of local groups and activities.

Animal lovers can watch pooches battle it out in the dog show, which includes a fancy dress category and a prize for the pet which looks most like its owner.

Sports, global cuisine and revolving hammocks!

Food lovers can tuck into an array of global cuisine, including street food from Mauritius, Vietnam and Mexico, and real ale fans can sample a selection of brews served up by CAMRA.

Brentford FC Community Sports Trust will help revellers burn off those extra calories on the football pitch, and you can also test your skills on the tennis court or take it easy and saddle up for a pony ride.

Life Boat, by the Institute for Crazy Dancing

If it all gets a bit much for you, why not hop on board the soothing Life Boat installation, manned by the intriguingly titled Institute for Crazy Dancing?

There you can stretch out on a hammock and watch the world go by as the boat-shaped structure gently rotates, washing away the stresses of modern life and inducing a meditative bliss.

Visitors can travel to and from the festival in style on a classic bus, courtesy of Brentford firm RedRoutemaster, which will be operating a free shuttle service between the park, Brentford town centre and Uxbridge Road throughout the afternoon.

Brentford Festival takes place on Sunday, September 4, from midday to 6pm, in Blondin Park, which is in Boston Manor Road, Northfields.
