A Brent man has been jailed for 25 years after he attempted to murder a former colleague at an office in West Ealing where he used to work.

Mohammed Himedan, of Fry Road, took a knife into Your Company Mobiles' office in 84 Uxbridge Road and attacked Lee Stalham on February 10 this year.

At Isleworth Crown Court on Monday (November 7) Himedan was given a custodial sentence of 25 years, and will serve a further four years on licence.

A jury found the 25-year-old guilty, unanimously, of attempted murder, inflicting grievous bodily harm (GBH) and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place at the same court on October 5.

The Dutch national, who the court heard did not suffer from any mental disorder or disability, had pleaded not guilty two days before the verdict.

Himedan had entered the second floor office with a knife with its base wrapped in cling film, to avoid his fingerprints being traced, and stabbed Mr Stalham "five to six times" at his desk in a "planned" attack, the court heard.

He attacked the victim in a "downwards" motion with the knife at his desk, while telling the victim he had "killed" Himedan's father.

But at an earlier hearing on October 3, jurors were told that Himedan's father was still alive.

The court heard that Himedan worked at the office for around a year from 2014 to 2015, but had "for no apparent reason" stopped turning up.

Judge Nicholas Wood said: "No one suggested there was any grudge.

"You walked in and went upstairs to the office where you worked with Mr Stalham.

"You lunged at him and started stabbing him downwards. The knife went right through his arm.

"Mr Stalham was in total fear and thought he was going to die."

The court heard the victim fled from the scene and down the stairs, but was caught up by the defendant who continued the attack before a colleague, Kevin Ofosu-Amaah, intervened but sustained a cut to his hand, jurors were previously told.

Mr Himedan, who did not provide any information to the court on his motive, was detained at the scene shortly after.

The victim was left with nerve damage following the attack, leaving him unable to write or grip with his right hand.

He has suffered "serious and long-term physical and psychological harm" due to the attack, including post traumatic stress disorder and panic attacks.

In a statement read out in court by Peter Clement, prosecuting, Mr Stalham said: "I have lost a lot of movement in my right hand.

"I can no longer drive, this has had an impact on my business.

"I suffer panic attacks two to three times a week, these are brought on by different things. People being aggressive in public and people who look like Mo (Himedan).

"I'm really worried about a motive, this affects me on a daily basis, not knowing why it happened."

He is also using morphine due to the physical affects of the attack and is receiving physiotherapy and counselling sessions.

The court heard that a number of colleagues in the office who witnessed the attack are also receiving counselling for anxiety and panic attacks, after seeing the attack.
