Boris Johnson was left with egg on his face a charity auction prize of having breakfast with him attracted zero bids.
A meal with the distinctive blonde was among the lots up for grabs to celebrities and socialites at the Dream Ball charity auction in London on Thursday night (July 7).
Bidders at the charity event included Strictly stars Anton Du Beke, James and Ola Jordan, Eastenders actress Lorna Fitzgerald and Cabinet Minister Oliver Letwin – but Boris, who led the Vote Leave campaign in the lead up to the EU referendum was not present.
One offer for the breakfast was made but the would-be lot winner retracted the accidental bid sharpish, as one guest heckled: "Can I pay in Euros?"
Event organiser and Dream Ball committee member James Innes eventually chucked in £5,000 for the unique opportunity, and saving the former London Mayor from total embarrassment.
The auctioneer attempted to soften the blow, saying: "This is sterling. I can't believe this is all we're going to get."
The Dream Ball was held to raise money to help young people from troubled backgrounds reach their full potential.
Mr Innes later said he was looking forward to enjoying egg and soldiers with the MP, who backed out of the Tory leadership contest last wee k.
An auction prize of meeting with This Morning hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield sold for £6,000 after a back-and-forth broke out between several guest, while a painting fetched £14,000.
