Boris Johnson enjoyed his first ever golf lesson in front of crowds at Hillingdon Golf Club last week.

The Uxbridge & South Ruislip MP put a smile on faces on Friday (August 7) as he attempted the sport for the first time, and accidentally hit a cameraman in the process!

Golf club captain David Phillips said the Mayor of London will be returning for regular lessons.

Speaking to getwestlondon, he said: "It was a fabulous, fun day with lots of people and families there.

"He's genuinely a nice guy and he's up for a challenge for sure. He was very personable and he made it a lovely afternoon for everybody that was there."

Crowds gathered to watch as Mr Johnson enjoyed a lesson from the club's own professional coach, Phil Smith.

Mr Phillips added: "There was a point where he actually hit one of the cameramen from the Sun! Which was funny to the least.

"Afterwards, he ate and drunk in the club with the members and was there for about three hours."

Mr Johnson is now an honorary member of Hillingdon Golf Club, which is a private members' club which has recently been re-furbished.

Mr Phillips said: "[Mr Johnson] came to open the recently refurbished club to attract younger people from the community.

"We've set up an academy for the younger people working with Hillingdon Council.

We're a private members' club but we're trying to open the doors to the club."
