Thousands of people lined the Thames to watch as Cambridge and Oxford shared the spoils in the 2016 Boat Race , with Cambridge winning the men's event and Oxford the women's.

Cambridge's success in the 162nd men's Boat Race on Easter Sunday (March 27) ended a run of three victories for Oxford in the historic competition.

Oxford's women secured a fourth straight victory in the 71st women's Boat Race, with Cambridge trailing them home by a minute.

Cambridge's women narrowly avoided sinking as they contended with what Maddy Badcott, president of Oxford Women's Boat Club, later said were the worst conditions in which she had ever rowed.

Huge crowds gathered to watch the races, with the usual party atmosphere along the banks and bridges of the Thames. Can you spot yourself in our gallery of photos from the day?
