The biggest sporting event on the planet will be shown live on a giant screen in Hammersmith.

Just a few weeks ago crowds wildly cheered as they watched Andy Murray secure an historic second Wimbledon title on the big screen in Lyric Square.

Now they be hoping for plenty more to celebrate when the Rio Olympics is shown at the same spot, next to the Lyric Hammersmith.

The decision was made to add the 2016 games to the HammersmithLondon BID ’s free Summer Festival, which sees an exciting programme of cultural events and activities to help invigorate the town centre for workers, residents and visitors .

As well as the tennis, this year’s Summer Festival has so far included a series of innovative outdoor theatre performances, a live stream of Il Trovatore from the Royal Opera House, lunchtime picnicking, al fresco yoga, table tennis and much more.

The Olympics runs from August 5-21.
