A baroness who was a leading art collector has been named as the victim of a fatal bus crash in Oxford Street.

Baroness Marion Lambert was involved in a collision with a number 73 bus near Bond Street Tube station on Tuesday, May 24, at around 4.45pm.

The 73-year-old pedestrian was taken to hospital with serious head injuries, from which she died on Saturday, May 28.

Baroness Lambert is the widow of Baron Philippe Lambert of the Bank Brussels Lambert banking dynasty, according to her Wikipedia entry.

She is described in the listing as one of the first collectors of contemporary photography, who sold her entire collection in 2004 for a total of $9.2m.

Police said her next of kin had been informed and an inquest had been opened and adjourned.

The driver of the bus, which is operated by Arriva, stopped at the scene and has been assisting officers with their enquiries, added police.

Detectives from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit at Merton Traffic Garage are still investigating the crash, and any witnesses have been asked to call them on 020 8543 5157.

Transport for London has said there will be a full investigation into the crash, which happened close to the junction with Gilbert Street.

A male pedestrian had been left in a critical condition following another collision with a bus in Oxford Street, near the junction with New Bond Street, the previous day.
