The second annual Latte Art Smackdown is taking place at the end of March in Ealing .

Baristas at coffee shops across London are encouraged to participate in the ultimate battle of coffee craftsmanship.

First place will receive the coveted Ealing Latte Art Smackdown milk jug 2016, as well as a £350 in prize money. Second and third place receive £100 and £50 pounds respectively with runners up getting silver spoons.

Last year, 16 baristas battled it out at Artisan Coffee in Ealing . This year's event will be held on March 31 and MakeitEaling, the local business improvement district, plan on making the show bigger and better.

Artisan Coffee will play host again meanwhile Maggie's diner will cross New Broadway and make coffee inspired cocktails, free for all attendees to enjoy.

All the action will be broadcast on screens as the baristas go head to head in a knockout tournament, with only the best progressing to the next round.

The 2015 competition was passionate and intense and this year the organisers have had to devise a new set of rules to make sure the competition is pitched at the highest level possible.

Competitions like this are growing in popularity across the world and West London is leading this trend. As well as reputable chains, West London is home to many independent coffee shops.
