Soldiers and their families enjoyed a fun day held to help them settle into their new digs at Hounslow Cavalry Barracks.

They enjoyed face-painting, fairground rides and battling it out with giant foam weapons, among a host of other activities, on Sunday (July 5).

The First Battalion Irish Guards arrived at the barracks in Beavers Lane, Hounslow West, where they will be stationed for at least the next three years, in June.

Sunday's revelry was organised by the Army Welfare Service to help troops and their families get to know their new neighbourhood.

As well as the fun and games, there were local service providers on hand to let the new arrivals know what's available locally.

The Army Welfare Service supports troops and their families with everything from finding schools to coping with bereavements.
