Sleet or snow has been predicted for London on Wednesday morning as a blast from the Arctic makes its way to the city.

Met Office forecasters have said an icy cold morning is to be expected, with sunny skies for the remainder of the day.

Although maximum temperatures are 7°C, the cold air will mean it will feel more like -1°C.

Lindsay Mears from the Met Office said: "Into Wednesday we are expecting another very cold day with some patchy snow on low levels in central and eastern parts of the UK.

"More cold air will move in, bringing rain, sleet and strong winds, possibly turning to snow over lower levels as far as London."

Wintery conditions are said to carry on into Thursday before being dry later.
