A woman has been seriously hurt after being hit by a car and thrown into a parked vehicle.

The incident happened in Maida Vale on Monday (April 17) as the 24-year-old walked along Elgin Avenue shortly before 6.45pm.

The driver of a silver Honda Jazz has been arrested in connection with the incident.

Police say the pedestrian remains at a central London hospital with life-changing injuries.

It is believed the injured woman was hurled into a parked white VW Golf before landing on the pavement.

Officers arrived at the scene to find London Ambulance paramedics treating her.

The driver has been bailed until a date in mid-May pending further enquiries.

Police say there were a number of people in the immediate area at the time and are keen to hear from witnesses.
