Anmer Lodge, a derelict site in Stanmore which has long been identified for regeneration by Harrow Council will soon welcome new homes, a retail unit and new car parking spaces.

Following an agreement between Harrow Council , Notting Hill Housing and Marks and Spencer, the site was sold on Tuesday October 13.

The sale of the 2.65 acre site will now pave the way for 120 new homes (50 affordable), a 1,692 square metre retail unit which will house a new Marks and Spencer Simply Foods Store.

There will also be an additional 50 non residential car parking spaces on top of the 151 existing spaces.

Councillor Keith Ferry, portfolio holder for regeneration said: “I am pleased that the Anmer Lodge site has finally been sold to make way for much needed affordable homes as well as help the local economy through the creation of new jobs with the new retail space.

“The site has long been earmarked for redevelopment and will bring lots of benefits to residents, businesses and the local community.

“This news comes at a very exciting time for Harrow as we launch our ambitious regeneration plans to build a better Harrow.

“I am looking forward to working with Notting Hill Trust on making the plans come to life to benefit the local community in Stanmore.”

The council will now be working with Notting Hill Housing on implementing the regeneration project.

The project is expected to finish in 2020 with works expected to begin around spring 2016.
