A two car collision on the A40 Western Avenue near RAF Northolt has caused a lane to be closed on Thursday morning (March 2).

The crash happened at around 6.40am in the eastbound carriageway and has caused delays all the way back to the Denham roundabout near Uxbridge.

Traffic is very slow passing the scene, according to Transport for London.

Police response

The Metropolitan Police have come back to us with some more information about the crash.

Luckily no one was injured in the collision and the road was cleared at around 8.10am.

A spokesman for the Met said: “We were called to a damage only collision between two cars on the A40 eastbound at 6:07am on Thursday, March 2.

“All lanes re-opened at 8.09am.”

Lane reopened but still delays

The A40 lane closure because of the crash has now been lifted but there are still delays back to Uxbridge.

This is how the roads are looking as of 8am.

Looks like traffic is moving very slowly along the A40 towards London from the Denham roundabout.

Also looking pretty congest on the Oxford Road heading into Uxbridge and in Long Lane down towards Hillingdon.

There is a tree on the carriageway

Highway England are also reporting that one lane of the A40 is closed heading into London between the M40 and Swakeleys Road.

This is because of a fallen tree blocking the carriageway.

It’s unclear at the moment if this is connected with the crash slightly further along the road, but we will bring you updates on this one as we get them.

The crash happened just after Hillingdon Circus and is causing delays back to the Denham roundabout.
